The Lion of Judah
There is a single problem that Jewish Nation in Israel and abroad faces today. This problem is Governance. Ecstatic religiosity, we always had plenty of that. But we never had any experience in governing. Contrary to popular belief Jews do not have crisis of leadership but we do have crisis of “governorship” and even when capable people rise to the occasion of leadership they have no tools, culture or institutions of governance. This is a plague that spread throughout every single Jewish group, big and small.
The genius of America is that people like Jefferson, Adams and even Franklin wrote, thought and built constitution and society of balanced power to allow freedom. They had centuries of experimentation, theories and models from Greece to France and England. At exactly the same time Jews where adapting themselves to the monarchical abusive dictatorships in Misnagdic or Chasidic courts. Even after the war the so called strong leaders like the Lubavitcher Rebbe showed no interests in governance, in fact the Lubavitcher Rebbe was proud and indifferent in his detachment from his decaying institutions. Everywhere you look, in Israel and in Satmar the archaic governance models and the lack of culture of governance is the root of our national downfall.
There is no crisis of leadership, there is crisis of “governorship”.
