Go fly an Afifon be Midbar Yehuda
The 4th Kite festival at Pnei Kedem
Pnei Kedem is a six year old Yishuv on the East end of Gush Etzion. Mostly Americans I understand. There are no permanent houses yet, it is all carvanim (trailers). About 200 meters higher in elevation than Jerusalem. You can see Dead Sea and there is a constant breeze from the sea. Perfect for flying a kite. The Yishuv was recruiting new members. 15 min from Efrat and 40 min from Jerusalem.
What is a temporary dwelling?
There must have been over a thousand people there and almost everyone Anglo. I kept asking why? Nobody would give me an explanation. Perhaps flying a kite is an American thing?

Mincha.
Jeep tour into the mountains, Dead Sea in the background. The driver was a former tankist, he was going over the boulders masterfully. The jeep had two transmission sticks. He could shift individually, front drive, back wheels drive and four wheels drive, depending on the terrain. Amazing!

This is an official photo. A policemen asked me to take a photo of him awarding a rank darga of Volunteer Policemen to this fellow. I took few snap of the ceremony to email.
