Finally I debated if I should reply to the about comments about Rabbi Deutsch. Let each reader judge his books for himself or herself. No one forces anyone to like his books. As a friend I lack objectivity in reviewing his books. Deutsch runs an organization for the needy delivering packages weekly to needy in Boro Park, Flatbush and kan zivah Hashem es haberocha - yes Crown Heights! Dozens of families in CH depend on his Sabbath parcels. He delivers over 2,000 parcels every week. Thursday night his home is full of Jews from all stripes men and women packing and delivering. I met Baale teshuva, Hassidics, Yeshiva people and Modern Orthodox people. Every one pitches in, including many retail, wholesale and ready made food establishments. Years ago I met Deutsch in Lower Manhattan, we had lunch and then he himself shlepped food from kosher eateries there in large bags to his office to shlep back to Brooklyn to distribute. No shluchim, no mazkirus , no Mashbaks, just his own powerful pleitzes.
