Chief Rabbi of Ukraine No.3 is excommunicated

Chief Rabbis from the Ukrainian regions, 30 Shluchim associated with Ohr Avner sign a letter declaring the new Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Asman persona non grata (I received the letter from an unfamiliar source, I have to assume it is authentic):

In the past Ohr Avner Rabbis could get away with calling everyone who disagrees with the monopoly "the enemy waging the war against Lubavitch and the Rebbe", but now the problem with the current invectives is that Moshe Reuven is on the official Shluchim list, the Yeshiva he runs in Kiev is called Tomchey Tmimim and his own kid last year was in the Heder of the Next Lubavitcher Rebbe in Toronto. Anyhow, let�s start from the beginning.


Rabbi Yaakov Bleich, a Stoliner Chosid and a true pioneer. He was the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine No.1. Unceremoniously "replaced" by the Ohr Avner candidate Rabbi Azriel Chaikin of Brussels. Suffered bitterly from both Asman and Ohr Avner. Now appears to align with Asman.


Former President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma is introduced to the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine No.2 Azriel Chaikin by Levi Leviev, Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar and Chief Rabbi of Israel Yonah Metzger.


It was reported that Levy Leviev proudly displayed a portrait of himself with Kuchma in his office in Israel.

Kuchma's Jewish son in law billionaire Victor Pinchuk. Victor Yuschenko during the Orange Revolution visits Moshe Reuven Asman in Brodsky synagogue on Chanukah while Ohr Avner allegedly tacitly campaigns for Kuchma�s and Putin's man Vitor Yanukovitch.


Vadim Rabinovitch the oligarch behind Moshe Reuven Asman enjoys latkets with Victor Yuschenko. Now the picture is getting a bit more clearer. This is what led to Ukraine gets another "Chief Rabbi" eventuality. On Asman's site there is a press release in Russian about him becoming the Chief written in a style that is a through back to the best examples of the soviet propaganda. The key quote (my translation): "We will not forget enthusiasm of Rabbis from Ohr Avner participating in the political campaign of Vitor Yanukovitch. They split the Jewish community of Ukraine. Most Ukrainians in Israel voted for Yanukovitch as the result of the disinformation in the Ohr Avner media." And there is this pearl: "We appreciate the work of the Chief Rabbi of Brussels Azriel Chaikin in Ukraine and will be glad to cooperate with him in the future."
