Who is Matt Miller AKA Matisyahu?

Hasidic Musician gets all the emails critical about Matisyahu�s choice of clubs and bars as his venue. The conjecture and assumptions about what was going on in the BB King club is a typical frummie mongering. During Matisyahu�s Boston�s gig on Chanukah my friend Jamie summed it up: "this man can make tzitsis cool!"

On the other end of the spectrum are the Lubavitchers who publish misleading articles about "the 24-year-old beatboxer and MC who doesn't wear his glasses when he performs because odds are good that a number of women won't be dressed modestly." I have seen him jump into a mosh pit full of men and women, ok. I am very sorry that the video of his performance with the sexiest virtuoso violinist Estelle Goldfarb was yanked from the Jumu Paris concert site (I bet at his request).

A simple Jew is craving Matisyahu and Anthrax. It's not an accident that there is no significant Jewish musical talent from the traditional community. Creativity is being snuffed from the kids who come out of the yeshiva system. Lubavitch with their penchant for nigunim is no exception. And it is extremely cynical from them to exploit Matisyahu talent. He found in them a receptacle for his spiritual projections. The honest amongst the Lubavitchers know that they are inadequate to hold his lofty dreams. Matisyahu himself is still in the dark, but for how long?


Finally Matisyahu has a fabulous lead guitar player Aaron Dugan. I will see Matt Miller, Aaron and I will see you all next Mozey Shabbos (1/15) in the New Jewish High School.
