The Living Torah Museum is on the second and third floors of the Liozna compound. The third floor is devoted to showing artifacts from all periods of Jewish life (it goes till the Egyptian exile). It also showcases a display of all the different vessels and utensils mentioned in the Talmud, all of them from Talmudic times. Deutschs goal is to create a place where people can point to a kumkum or a kirah, and revivify their (until then) conceptually overfocused learning. Highlights of the exhibits include the earliest known inscription of the Ten Commandments, ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, and a selection of artifacts from the second temple period. The museum was written up in the latest issue of Biblical Archeology Review as the only Biblical Archeology museum in all of the United States.
Deutsch is not a one issue person. He has moved deftly from personifying the battle against contemporary messianism to personifying a new approach to Torah, one that shows all the artifacts of the Torah discussion, and to personifying a new approach to Hassidus, one that prioritizes the needs of the constituents over the needs of the kloiz.
